This authentic Shiraz rug, originating from ancient Persia, is a magnificent example of nomadic textile art. Hand-knotted with hand-carded wool on a cotton warp, it boasts a density of 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm and a thickness of 1 cm, attesting to its remarkable quality and durability.
Its traditional design is dominated by a large central diamond medallion, beautifully elaborated in cream and brown tones, which stands out against the vibrant red field. The field is densely decorated with a multitude of repeated geometric motifs, arranged in diagonal rows that create a hypnotic visual effect. These include small stars, rhombuses, and tribal symbols, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of the weavers.
The vivid colors, predominantly scarlet red and terracotta, blend harmoniously with deep blue, cream white, and dark brown details, creating a powerful and captivating contrast. The occasional presence of abrash, the slight color variations typical of natural dyes, adds depth and character, highlighting the uniqueness of a purely artisanal work. The outer border, also rich in stylized geometric motifs, perfectly frames the central design.
A Shiraz rug like this is not just a furnishing accessory, but a piece of history and tradition that brings warmth, personality, and an exotic touch to any environment, from the entrance to the living room, adapting perfectly to both classic and modern settings.
