This captivating Baluch runner, originating from Persia, is a magnificent example of the textile art of nomadic peoples. Crafted with hand-carded wool on a cotton warp, it boasts a density of approximately 160,000-200,000 knots per square meter, testifying to the meticulousness of its creation.
The design centers on an ivory cream field, where multiple stylized 'trees of life' symmetrically develop, an iconic motif symbolizing growth and fertility. These trees are interspersed with small geometric figures and zoomorphic and anthropomorphic stylizations, narrating the stories and beliefs of the weavers. Subtle abrash effects are noticeable, the slight color variations in the wool that add depth and authenticity to the rug.
The borders are particularly rich and strongly define the runner's structure. Dominant shades of burgundy red and dark blue feature a series of bands containing complex geometric motifs, zigzags, and serrated elements, typical of tribal aesthetics. Every detail is a nod to the ancient Baluch textile tradition, making this piece an addition of character and history to any space.
