This authentic Shiraz rug, hand-knotted in the Fars region of Persia, embodies the richness and tradition of nomadic tribes. Crafted with hand-carded wool for the pile and a sturdy cotton warp, it features a knot density ranging from 160,000 to 200,000 knots/sqm, bearing witness to meticulous artisan craftsmanship.
The design is a magnificent example of tribal art, characterized by an impressive central geometric medallion dominating the intense red field. Flanking it and in the corners, sections of medallions and complex geometric and stylized motifs stand out, evoking elements of nature and the daily life of local populations, including birds and plant forms. The chromatic richness is highlighted by deep red, black, cream, and touches of blue, yellow, and brown, which sometimes show slight color variations (abrash), a distinctive sign of natural dyeing and the uniqueness of the artifact.
The rug's frame is composed of a series of secondary borders rich in geometric details, enclosing and enhancing the central field. Each knot tells a story, making this Shiraz rug not just a furnishing element, but a work of art and a fragment of an ancient culture, capable of infusing warmth and character into any room.
