This magnificent Gorawan rug, originating from the renowned Persian tradition, is a textile work of art that embodies centuries of artisanal mastery. Made with hand-carded wool for the pile and a cotton warp, it offers a rich texture and exceptional durability. Its density of approximately 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm testifies to the fineness of its weave and the meticulousness of its craftsmanship.
The rug features an imposing polygonal central medallion, dominant on a vibrant ruby red field, enriched with geometric and stylized floral motifs. The corners of the field are decorated with quarter medallions that echo the central design, creating visual harmony. The color palette is characterized by intense shades of red, dark, almost black blue, elegant cream and brown accents, blending into a fascinating interplay of contrasts. The ancient technique of abrash, visible in the slight color variations, adds depth and character to the artifact.
The rug's border consists of a series of bands, with the main one featuring a succession of geometric and stylized forms, typical of Gorawan craftsmanship, set against a dark blue background. This rectangular rug, with a thickness of approximately 1 cm, is not just a furnishing element but a piece of Persian history and culture that can transform the atmosphere of any room, lending it a touch of elegance and warmth. It is a lasting investment and a valuable addition to any collection.
