This magnificent Gorawan rug, originating from Persia, is an authentic expression of Persian knotting art. Characterized by rich symbolism and a vibrant chromatic palette, it carries the elegance and history of a millennia-old culture.
The central design is dominated by a large hexagonal medallion, with stylized stepped edges, in a deep navy blue, enclosing stylized floral and geometric elements. At the four corners, quarter-medallion sections stand out, reflecting the complexity of the central motif. The field is densely decorated with stylized Herati floral motifs and small geometric elements arranged with great harmony. The main border, often adorned with a 'turtle head' design or Herati motifs, frames the whole with elegance. The use of natural dyes and the hand-knotting technique give the rug a unique depth, with possible slight variations in tone (abrash) testifying to the handcrafted nature of the piece.
Made with high-quality hand-carded wool, with a cotton warp, this rug boasts a high knot density, between 160,000 and 200,000 knots/sqm, ensuring its robustness and longevity. The thickness of 1 cm contributes to its softness and comfort. It is a work that not only decorates but tells a story, adding a touch of warmth and sophistication to any room.
The Gorawan is a traditional rug that adapts beautifully to both classic and contemporary settings, serving as a focal point or a harmonizing element in a refined furnishing composition. Its timeless aesthetic makes it a durable and valuable investment.
