This magnificent Gorawan rug, originating from Persia, is a splendid example of tribal weaving art. Characterized by a vibrant color palette with a predominance of intense red, deep black, and details in cream, blue, and brown, it presents a captivating design rich in symbolism.
The rug's heart is dominated by a large, intricate, and highly stylized geometric central medallion that immediately draws the eye. This is surrounded by a field densely populated with smaller geometric motifs, stylized forms, and tribal details that narrate ancient stories. The multi-layered borders echo and amplify the design's complexity, framing the entire composition with elegance.
Woven with hand-carded wool on a cotton warp, the Gorawan boasts a high knot density, between 160,000 and 200,000 knots per square meter, which gives the rug remarkable robustness and a finely detailed texture. Its surface, approximately 1 cm thick, offers a warm and inviting feel. Slight color variations, known as abrash, may be observed, testifying to the authenticity and artisanal processing of the wool, adding unique depth and character to each piece. A timeless work, perfect for enriching any environment with a touch of Persian history and culture.
