This magnificent Gorawan rug, originating from Persia, is an authentic expression of tribal textile art. Masterfully hand-knotted, it features a robust structure of hand-carded wool on a cotton warp, ensuring durability and a pleasant tactile feel. The knot density, between 160,000 and 200,000 knots per square meter, testifies to the fineness and complexity of its craftsmanship.
The design is dominated by a large geometric central medallion, characteristic of rugs from the Gorawan region, which stands out vividly against the main field. Stylized geometric motifs and tribal details fill the entire field and the broad borders, creating a dynamic and harmonious visual effect. The skillful use of abrash, the natural color variations of hand-dyed wool, adds depth and unique character to this piece, particularly in the red tones.
The predominant colors are an intense ruby red and black, enriched with accents of dark blue, cream, and brown, which enhance the design's complexity. With its thickness of 1 cm, it offers a significant presence without being overly voluminous, perfect for defining a space in a living room or study. This rug is not just a furnishing item, but a piece of Persian history and culture that brings warmth and personality to any setting.
