This magnificent Bidjar rug originates from the eponymous Persian region, renowned for its production of robust and exceptionally durable artifacts. Woven entirely from hand-spun wool, with a sturdy cotton warp, it boasts a high density of 400,000-450,000 knots/sqm and a thickness of 1.4 cm, testifying to its excellent quality and resistance to wear. Each wool fiber has been carefully selected and spun, giving the rug a unique softness and a natural sheen that reveals itself with the play of light. The skill of Bidjar weavers is evident in the compactness of the knot, which ensures a work of art destined to last over time.
The design features an imposing central geometric medallion, in the shape of a concentric octagon, dominating the field with its complex network of stylized motifs on a cream and reddish background. This medallion is framed by a terracotta-colored main field, densely decorated with an intricate all-over design of small floral and geometric elements, often referred to as a stylized Herati design, which repeats harmoniously. The predominant colors are terracotta red, dark blue (almost aubergine), and cream, enriched by lighter shades of beige and green accents. The "abrash" effect is visible, with slight variations in tone that add depth and authenticity to the rug, attesting to the natural dyeing of the wool.
The rug's border is elaborate and features multiple bands: a wider main border with stylized floral motifs on a dark blue background, flanked by thinner secondary borders with geometric elements. The chromatic balance and meticulous execution of details make this Bidjar a prestigious furnishing piece, capable of imparting warmth and elegance to any environment, from the most classic to the most contemporary. A textile work of art that encapsulates centuries of Persian artisanal tradition.
