This fascinating Shiraz rug, originating from Persia, embodies the rich artisanal tradition of nomadic peoples. Crafted with hand-carded wool on a cotton warp, it features a density of 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm and a thickness of approximately 1 cm, testifying to its robustness and attention to detail. The quality of the wool and the excellent knotting ensure exceptional durability and a soft feel.
The design is characterized by a main field of a deep burgundy red, animated by three large central diamond-shaped medallions, in an intense midnight blue. These medallions are finely outlined in white and filled with stylized geometric motifs, including tribal symbols and small zoomorphic figures representing birds and domestic animals, typical of Qashqai nomadic iconography. The all-over design is enriched by an abundance of small scattered decorative elements, creating a lively and dynamic atmosphere. The multi-layered borders echo the main colors and geometric patterns of the field, adding depth and completeness to the rug. The abrash effect, visible in the tonal variations of red and blue, adds a touch of authenticity and charm, highlighting the natural artisanal dyeing process.
