This magnificent Shiraz rug, originating from Persia, is an authentic expression of ancient nomadic textile tradition. Hand-knotted with hand-carded wool on a cotton warp, it reveals a knot density ranging from 160,000 to 200,000 knots/sqm and a thickness of 1 cm, testifying to its robustness and artisanal care.
Its design is dominated by a large, intricate geometric shield medallion, centrally placed on the ruby red field. In the four corners, dark brown or black spandrels echo the shape of the central medallion. The entire field is finely decorated with a myriad of stylized tribal motifs, zoomorphic figures, and ancestral symbols, telling stories and beliefs of the Fars nomadic peoples. The presence of abrash (color variations due to different dye baths) enhances the rustic and authentic character of the rug.
The color palette is vibrant: an intense cardinal red forms the main background, contrasted by accents of deep brown, cream, and touches of blue and ochre. The main border, with its chain-like S-motif, harmoniously frames the central design, making this Shiraz a textile work of art that brings the atmosphere and warmth of Persia directly into your space.
