This captivating Shiraz rug, hailing from the ancient lands of Persia, is a magnificent example of nomadic craftsmanship. Made with hand-carded wool for the pile and cotton for the warp, it testifies to a centuries-old weaving tradition.
The design is distinguished by its richly decorated, centrally arranged lozenge medallions that immediately draw the eye. The main field is a vibrant deep red, enriched by an all-over pattern of small floral and geometric motifs, arranged in a seemingly random but harmonious way. The color variations, known as abrash, are visible in the side blue-grey field and add depth and character to the rug, highlighting the use of natural dyes and artisanal work.
The border features a succession of stylized floral motifs, elegantly framing the central design. The knot density, ranging between 160,000 and 200,000 knots/sqm, ensures exceptional robustness and durability, while its thickness of 1 cm guarantees a soft feel underfoot.
A Shiraz rug is more than just a piece of decor; it is a piece of history, an expression of the culture and skill of the Qashqai weavers and nomadic tribes of the Fars region. It will bring a warm and authentic atmosphere to any setting.
