This magnificent Gorawan rug, originating from Persia, embodies the richness and tradition of Persian knotting art. Crafted from hand-carded wool, the pile offers a soft yet durable texture, while the cotton warp ensures strength and longevity. The knot density, ranging between 160,000 and 200,000 knots/sqm, attests to the high quality and meticulous execution of this piece.
The design is dominated by a large geometric central medallion, finely detailed with star motifs and serrated contours, standing out against an intense ruby red field. In the four corners, triangular elements mirror the medallion's design, creating a harmonious visual balance. The entire field is enriched with an all-over design of stylized floral motifs and tribal symbols that add depth and character. The dark main border is adorned with a succession of rosettes and stylized Herati motifs, perfectly framing the composition.
The predominant colors are the ruby red of the field, ivory and black defining the medallion and details, along with touches of powder blue and grey that enrich the palette. The possible presence of abrash, slight color variations, adds a touch of authenticity and unique charm, typical of hand-knotted rugs made with natural dyes.
With a thickness of approximately 1 cm, this Gorawan rug is not just a furnishing element but a work of art that brings warmth and personality to any setting, from classic to contemporary.
