This magnificent Gorawan rug, originating from Persia, is a sublime expression of traditional knotting art. Each knot tells a story, woven with mastery and passion into a timeless piece.
Its design is dominated by a large stepped central medallion, richly adorned with geometric and stylized motifs. The field, on a bright cream background, is interspersed with small stylized floral and botanical motifs that create an all-over design around the medallion, harmoniously balancing positive and negative spaces.
The vibrant and harmonious color palette predominantly features intense red, deep black, and a natural beige for the background, enriched with touches of blue, green, and brown. The use of hand-carded wool enhances the depth of the colors, often showing a slight 'abrash' that testifies to the artisanal dyeing process and adds a unique character to each piece.
The border consists of multiple bands, with a main stripe decorated with a series of stylized flowers on a dark background, elegantly enclosing the central field, accentuating its complexity and beauty.
Crafted from hand-carded wool for the pile and cotton for the warp, this rug boasts a density of approximately 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm and a thickness of 1 cm, ensuring robustness and durability. It is a textile work of art that brings warmth, history, and a timeless atmosphere to any room, enhancing spaces with its imposing and refined presence.
