This magnificent Ardakan rug, originating from the historic region of Persia, is an exquisite example of ancient textile art. Crafted with hand-carded wool on a cotton warp, it features a density of 160,000-200,000 knots per square meter and a thickness of approximately 1 cm, giving it robustness and a pleasant feel underfoot.
The design is dominated by a large, elaborate central medallion, surrounded by a rich all-over pattern of stylized floral motifs, typical of the classic Persian style. The vibrant colors, with a predominant scarlet red in the field, beautifully contrast with the shades of deep blue, cream, and accents of light blue and ocher found in the medallion and the numerous borders.
The attention to detail and master craftsmanship make each piece unique, with possible slight color variations, known as abrash, which attest to the rug's authentic nature. An Ardakan is more than just a decorative item; it is an investment in beauty and history, capable of transforming any space with its timeless charm.
