This magnificent Ardakan rug, hailing from Persia, embodies the elegance and rich tradition of Persian knotting art. Its design, dominated by a large central medallion on a vibrant red field, is a tribute to artisanal mastery. The medallion, intricately woven with stylized floral motifs and vine leaves, is flanked by four corner spandrels that echo its style, creating visual harmony.
The red field is densely populated with an all-over design of scrolling flowers and tendrils, which lend depth and movement. The main border, in deep blue, is itself a masterpiece of detail, with continuous floral motifs magnificently framing the rug, interspersed with thinner secondary borders featuring geometric and botanical elements.
Crafted from hand-carded wool, this Ardakan offers a unique tactile feel and remarkable durability. The wool, knotted on a cotton warp, ensures structural stability. The density of approximately 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm attests to the precision of its craftsmanship, while the 1 cm thickness contributes to its robustness. Slight color variations, known as abrash, may be present, adding character and authenticity.
The color palette is vibrant and balanced, with the intense red of the field contrasting with the deep blue of the medallion and border. Touches of cream, light blue, and ocher illuminate the floral details, creating a sumptuous and inviting visual effect, perfect for enriching any home environment with a touch of Persian luxury.
