This splendid rug, a true Persian Bidjar runner originating from Persia, is a magnificent example of the textile art of this region. Renowned for their extraordinary durability and compact weave, Bidjar rugs are often called "iron rugs" due to their resistance.
The design features a central terracotta-red field, densely populated with stylized geometric and floral motifs, typical of the Bidjar repertoire. Three creamy diamond-shaped medallions dominate the field, each intricately decorated with floral and geometric patterns, creating a captivating visual contrast. The borders, in a deep dark brown, are adorned with a series of small rosettes and palmette motifs, elegantly framing the center.
The hand-carded wool and remarkable density of 400,000-450,000 knots/sqm give this runner a rich texture and exceptional longevity. With a thickness of 1.4 cm, it offers a luxurious and comfortable feel underfoot. The use of cotton for the warp ensures a stable and durable structure.
Ideal for adding character to hallways, entryways, or narrow spaces, this Bidjar runner is not just a furnishing item but a work of art that tells stories of ancient traditions and artisanal mastery. A piece that adds warmth and sophistication to any setting.
