This magnificent Kerman rug, originating from Persia, is a splendid example of Oriental textile art. Its design is dominated by an elaborate central medallion, rich in intricate floral motifs and finely detailed palmettes. The field, a deep navy blue, is entirely covered by an all-over design of lush blossoms, sinuous leaves, and stylized branches, creating the atmosphere of a blooming garden. Around the main medallion, complex tear-drop or cartouche motifs radiate, enhancing its centrality.
The wide and imposing main border features a harmonious succession of large palmettes and floral compositions on a lighter background, enclosed between thinner secondary borders that echo continuous scroll elements. The color palette is rich and balanced: the blue of the field combines beautifully with the intense reds of the medallion, delicate pinks, golden beiges, pastel blues, and natural greens, all enriched by shades that may show a slight abrash, evidence of the authenticity of the materials and hand-dyeing.
Made from hand-carded wool, with a sturdy cotton warp, this Kerman boasts a density of 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm, ensuring extraordinary robustness and impeccable detail definition. With a thickness of 1 cm, it offers a feeling of softness and durability, making it a functional and lasting work of art, capable of gracing any environment with its timeless beauty.
