This magnificent Kilim, originating from Afghanistan, is a masterpiece of traditional craftsmanship. Made with hand-carded wool for the pile and a cotton warp, it offers a robust and durable texture. Its flat-weave construction, typical of kilims, makes it versatile and suitable for various settings, from classic to contemporary.
The rug features a captivating all-over pattern composed of hexagonal geometric motifs and smaller diamond and triangular details. The color palette is dominated by a delicate lavender grey, enriched with touches of mint green and cream accents that outline the motifs. The harmonious blend of colors and shapes creates a serene and welcoming atmosphere, with possible subtle color variations (abrash) testifying to the authenticity of natural dyeing.
With a density of approximately 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm and a thickness of 0.3 cm, this Kilim is not just a piece of furniture, but a fragment of textile history and culture.
