This wonderful Kilim rug, coming directly from Afghanistan, is a sublime expression of ancient nomadic textile tradition. Made with hand-carded wool on a cotton warp, each piece is carefully and skillfully woven, revealing the rich cultural heritage of its land of origin. The Kilim technique, a flat-weave rug, imparts lightness and remarkable wear resistance, making it ideal for any room in the house, from the living room to the bedroom.
The design features an all-over pattern with a sequence of large central diamond medallions, defined by vibrant borders and outlines. Traditional geometric motifs, reminiscent of ancestral symbols, adorn the entire field, imbuing a sense of history and authenticity. The dominant colors—vibrant red, warm beige, and accents of sky blue and ochre—blend harmoniously, often displaying the abrash effect, a distinctive sign of natural dyeing and artisanal craftsmanship.
With a density of approximately 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm (technical data provided; although Kilims are flat weaves, this indicates the robustness and fineness of the work), and a thickness of 0.3 cm, this rug is more than just a furnishing item: it's a story, a journey through time and the artisanal traditions of Afghanistan, capable of adding warmth and character to any space.
