This magnificent Kilim rug, originating from Afghanistan, is a superb example of the region's ancient textile tradition. Crafted from hand-carded wool with a cotton warp, it offers a robust texture and an unexpected softness. The flatweave technique gives the rug a unique lightness and versatility, making it ideal for various settings.
The design features a central field dominated by geometric diamonds, each enclosing intricate internal motifs. These diamonds are presented in a range of soft, natural colors, spanning from beige to sage green, sky blue to burnt orange, with accents of pink and gray. The entire design is framed by decorative borders that echo and develop the central geometric motifs, creating a sense of harmony and continuity. The color variations, occasionally interrupted by subtle "abrash," attest to the authenticity of the yarns and the manual craftsmanship.
With a density of 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm and a thickness of 0.3 cm, this Kilim is not merely a decorative item, but a piece of artisanal history, capable of infusing warmth and character into any space. Its robust structure and timeless design make it a valuable addition to any collection.
