This Afghan Kilim is a superb example of Afghanistan's ancient textile art. Crafted from hand-carded wool on a cotton warp, every fiber tells a story of tradition and artisanal mastery. Its surface, with a thickness of approximately 0.3 cm, and an estimated density between 160,000 and 200,000 knots/sqm, offers a unique tactile sensation and remarkable durability.
The Kilim features a captivating geometric design characterized by four large central diamonds, each adorned with intricate internal motifs. The field is dominated by warm terracotta and orange tones, creating a dynamic contrast with details in deep blue, sage green, lilac, pink, and cream beige. The outer borders are enriched with a series of small lozenges and zigzag patterns, elegantly framing the central design. The color variation, known as abrash, is a testament to natural dyeing and adds depth and character to the rug, making each piece unique.
This rug is not just a furnishing element, but a piece of history and culture, capable of imbuing warmth and personality into any setting, from the most classic to the most contemporary.
