This authentic Afghan Kilim is a textile work of art that embodies the essence of traditional craftsmanship. Made with hand-carded wool on a cotton warp, it features a flat weave of extraordinary quality, with a thickness of just 0.3 cm.
The design is distinguished by a main border in a warm terracotta orange hue, embellished with stylized geometric motifs and distinctive white eight-pointed designs at the corners and along the sides. The central field is characterized by a series of large, checkerboard-arranged diamonds, each filled with an intricate multicolor pattern. The colors range from green to blue, from pink to ochre yellow, with shades that show slight variations in tone, an example of the phenomenon called abrash, which adds character and depth to the rug. These diamonds are separated by thin light strips that enhance their geometry.
With an estimated density of 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm (although Kilims are woven and not knotted, this data highlights the robustness of the craftsmanship), this Kilim is not just a decorative element, but a piece of history and culture. It is ideal for adding a touch of vibrant color and an ethnic atmosphere to any room, from modern to classic.
