This superb Mashad rug, originating from Persia, is a magnificent example of traditional textile art. Crafted with exquisite hand-carded wool on a cotton warp, it boasts a high density of approximately 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm and a thickness of 1.1 cm, attesting to the excellence and meticulousness of its artisanal execution.
Its classic design is dominated by a sumptuous eight-pointed central medallion, elegantly outlined and rich in intricate floral details. The main field, a vibrant and deep red, is enlivened by an all-over design of stylized botanical motifs, palmettes, and arabesques, creating a sense of movement and abundance.
At the four corners, coordinated spandrels echo the dark blue tones of the medallion, harmoniously balancing the composition. A lavish border, composed of minor bands and a main band with cartouches and repeated floral motifs, frames the entire work, accentuating the chromatic depth and richness of detail. The expert use of abrash adds subtle natural nuances, giving the rug a unique character and a timeless atmosphere. A textile work of art that enhances any setting with its elegance and history.
