The Sarough rug is a textile work of art from Persia, a region renowned for its ancient tradition in producing high-quality rugs.
This example is made from hand-carded wool, with a cotton warp, which gives the pile a particular softness and resilience. The artisanal craftsmanship is reflected in the knot density, ranging between 160,000 and 200,000 knots/sqm, ensuring a robust and durable rug. The pile thickness is approximately 1.2 cm, contributing to a pleasant tactile experience.
The classic design features a magnificent, finely decorated central medallion in a star shape, surrounded by coordinating pendants and spandrels. The entire field is adorned with an all-over floral design, with flowering branches, stylized leaves, and delicate palmettes gracefully unfolding. The color palette is dominated by a vibrant red for the field, enriched by elegant shades of dark blue, light blue, and accents of cream and gold. This combination creates a harmonious and sophisticated visual effect.
Every detail of this Sarough reveals the skill of the master weavers, making it a precious addition to any setting. The presence of slight color variations, known as "abrash," is a testament to the rug's authenticity and handcrafted nature, adding depth and character.
