Discover the beauty and tradition of this magnificent Shiraz rug, originating from Persia. These rugs are renowned for their robustness and vibrant designs, reflecting the rich nomadic culture of the Shiraz region.
Crafted with hand-carded wool, an ancient art that gives the pile a particular luster and durability, this piece features a solid cotton warp foundation. Its knot density, ranging from 160,000 to 200,000 knots/sqm, and a thickness of 1 cm, attest to the high quality of weaving and meticulous craftsmanship. You may notice a slight "abrash" effect, a natural chromatic variation that adds character and authenticity to the rug, resulting from the use of vegetable dyes and the hand-processing of the wool.
The design is dominated by a large, beautifully elaborate central lozenge medallion, enclosed by bands that outline a second, smaller medallion. This element is framed by four quarter-medallions placed in the corners, all set against a brilliant red field. Stylized floral and geometric motifs elegantly fill the field, on a dark blue background that fills the rest of the lozenge and outer corners. The wide and complex border features several decorative bands with geometric and stylized motifs, completing the harmony of the rug. The main colors are intense red, deep blue, and cream white, with accents of brown and orange that enhance every detail.
