This splendid, hand-knotted Persian Tabriz rug is a magnificent example of Persian craftsmanship and tradition. Originating from the historic city of Tabriz, Persia, renowned for its high-quality carpets, this piece captures the essence of classic design with its rich details and chromatic harmony.
The design features a majestic, finely elaborated central medallion, standing as the focal point of the entire composition. Surrounding the medallion, the field is a vibrant carmine red, richly adorned with an intricate floral design composed of sinuous arabesques, elegant palmettes, and delicate flowering vines. This motif extends harmoniously across the entire field, creating a sense of depth and luxury.
The quarter-medallion corners, placed at the field's angles, echo and complete the design of the central medallion, blending perfectly with the background decoration. The rich main border, on a midnight blue ground, is equally elaborate, with a succession of alternating floral motifs and cartouches, framing the piece with great artistry. The narrower guard stripes, in cream and blue tones, complete the border, adding further definition.
Crafted from hand-carded wool on a sturdy cotton warp, this rug boasts a remarkable knot density of approximately 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm, testifying to its fineness and durability. With a thickness of about 1 cm, it offers a pleasant texture and considerable resilience. Its chromatic nuances, including intense carmine red, deep midnight blue, cream, beige, and touches of light blue and green, create a warm and inviting atmosphere, ideal for enriching any classic or contemporary setting with a touch of timeless elegance.
