Discover the timeless charm of this exceptional Zandjan rug, an authentic expression of the ancient Persian tradition in weaving. Originating from the northwestern regions of Persia, where the art of knotting rugs has been passed down for generations, this specimen stands out for its robustness and intrinsic beauty.
Crafted from high-quality hand-carded wool with a cotton warp, each knot (with a density ranging from 350,000 to 400,000 knots per square meter) contributes to creating a dense and resilient surface, approximately 1.2 cm thick, promising durability and underfoot comfort. The artisanal craftsmanship ensures the uniqueness of each piece, often highlighted by slight color variations, known as abrash, which give the rug an even more authentic and lively character.
The design of this Zandjan rug is typically Persian, centered on an elaborate geometric medallion that dominates the intense red field. The medallion is richly decorated with stylized floral and geometric motifs, predominantly in shades of dark green and cream, creating a fascinating contrast with the dominant red. The field is densely populated by an all-over pattern of small floral and stylized elements, extending harmoniously to the borders.
The rug's frame is composed of several ornamental bands. The main band, on a cream and dark background, features a series of cartouches and rosettes, while the secondary bands echo rosette and geometric motifs, enriching the overall composition and elegantly delimiting the central motif.
With its vibrant color palette – ruby red, ivory cream, forest green, and accents of blue and brown – this Zandjan rug is a magnificent addition to any interior. Whether placed in a living room, dining room, or study, it will infuse warmth, sophistication, and a touch of Persian exoticism, transforming the environment into a welcoming and refined space. A work of art that not only decorates but tells a millennia-old story.
