This splendid example of a Sarough rug, originating from Persia, is an authentic textile work of art. Masterfully crafted, it features a pile made of hand-carded wool, while the warp is made of cotton, ensuring robustness and a pleasant softness to the touch.
The design is characterized by an imposing polychrome central medallion, which stands out against the midnight blue field. This medallion is surrounded by an intricate system of floral volutes, palmettes, and leaves that gracefully spread across the entire rug's field, creating an effect of movement and harmony. Predominant colors include intense blue for the field, which beautifully contrasts with the earthy red and beige/cream tones present in the floral motifs and the medallion.
The outer border, in brick red, is adorned with a sequence of floral cartouches and small rosettes, elegantly framing the central design. The knot density varies between 160,000 and 200,000 knots per square meter, testifying to the high quality of craftsmanship. With a thickness of approximately 1.2 cm, it offers a luxurious and comfortable feel underfoot. A piece of Persian history, ideal for enriching a classic or traditional setting with a touch of timeless elegance.
