The Sarough rug, originating from Persia, is a textile masterpiece of rare beauty and value. Crafted with hand-carded wool, it guarantees exceptional softness and resilience. The cotton warp ensures stability and durability over time.
Its distinctive design features a majestic central medallion, typically in a lozenge or stylized floral shape, which captures the eye. Its delicate volutes and floral motifs, such as palmettes and rosettes, extend harmoniously across the red field, creating an effect of great visual richness. The corner frames, called spandrels, echo and complete the medallion's design. Complex borders, with bands of small vegetal motifs, beautifully frame the composition.
The color palette is vibrant: an intense red dominates the main field, enriched by shades of sky blue and deep blue in the medallion and spandrels. Accents of cream, gold, and mauve complete the harmony of colors. The artisanal dyeing technique can give rise to slight color variations, known as "abrash", which testify to the authenticity and unique character of each piece.
With a density of 160,000-200,000 knots per square meter and a thickness of approximately 1.2 cm, this rug is not only a decorative element but an investment in beauty and tradition. A Sarough is more than just a rug; it is a symbol of luxury and a piece of Persian history, capable of conferring a regal atmosphere to any setting.
