This authentic Shiraz rug, originating from majestic Persia, embodies the essence of nomadic weaving art. Crafted with high-quality hand-carded wool and a cotton warp, it boasts a density of 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm and a thickness of 1 cm, ensuring durability and a pleasant feel to the touch.
The central field, in a vibrant ruby red, is dominated by a sequence of three large, interconnected lozenge-shaped medallions in deep indigo blue. These medallions are finely outlined with a white border and filled with stylized geometric motifs that evoke ancient tribal symbols. The abrash effect, visible in the subtle variations in shades of red and blue, adds depth and character, testifying to the artisanal nature of the wool dyeing.
The rug's all-over design is enriched by a myriad of small geometric decorative elements, stylized animals, and apotropaic symbols, gracefully scattered across the red background. The complex border is composed of several bands: the main one features a series of stylized "S" geometric motifs on a dark background, while the secondary bands include a "sawtooth" pattern and a braid, also in shades of blue, white, and brown. This rectangular rug is a testament to the rich textile tradition of the Fars region, combining functionality and aesthetic beauty in a unique piece that conveys warmth and history.
