This magnificent Shiraz rug is an authentic expression of Persian nomadic craftsmanship, originating from the Fars region in Persia. Made with traditional techniques passed down through generations, it embodies the rich cultural heritage and artistic skill of the nomadic tribes.
Hand-knotted with high-quality hand-carded wool, this rug features a robust pile and a welcoming texture. The cotton warp ensures stability and durability over time. The knot density, ranging between 160,000 and 200,000 knots per square meter, attests to the precision and dedication employed in its creation, giving it an excellent thickness of approximately 1 cm.
The rug showcases a geometric medallion design, characteristic of Shiraz rugs, dominating the central field with its stepped forms. The field, predominantly fiery red with deep garnet tones and noticeable abrash that adds character, is populated by an infinite number of stylized tribal motifs: animals (goats, birds), human figures, trees of life, and protective amulets, all narrating stories of daily life and ancestral beliefs. The chromatic contrasts with the raven black of the side sections and the creamy ivory of the central details create a powerful visual impact. The border, also rich in repeated geometric motifs, harmoniously frames the all-over design.
A Shiraz rug is more than just a decorative item; it is a fragment of history and tradition. Its robustness and the intrinsic beauty of its motifs make it ideal for adding warmth, color, and an'authentic ethnic atmosphere to any setting, from the most classic to the most contemporary.
