This magnificent rug, hailing from the Shiraz region of Persia, is a testament to the skilled craftsmanship and rich tradition of the Fars and Qashqai nomadic and semi-nomadic peoples. Made entirely with hand-carded wool, the pile offers a robust texture and a captivating irregularity typical of tribal rugs, with evident abrash effects that enhance its authentic character.
The central motif is dominated by three large diamond medallions, executed in a deep, almost indigo dark blue, which stand out vividly against the intense red main field. These medallions are interconnected and filled with an intricate stylized ramage design and animal motifs. The rest of the field is a vibrant all-over pattern, enriched by a myriad of stylized tribal symbols: animals (deer, birds), human figures, and botanical motifs, arranged in a dynamic yet balanced composition.
The main border features a classic "sawtooth" or "running dog" pattern, harmoniously framing the central design, with thinner secondary borders echoing small geometric shapes. The cotton foundation ensures robustness and durability for this rug, which is knotted with a density of 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm and a thickness of approximately 1 cm. An authentic piece that will infuse warmth and history into any setting.
