This splendid Kilim, originating from Afghanistan, is a magnificent example of traditional textile craftsmanship. Made with hand-carded wool for the weft and a cotton warp, it features a durable and resistant flatweave. Its density of approximately 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm and a thickness of just 0.3 cm make it lightweight yet robust, perfect for any home setting.
The design is distinguished by a rich teal green border that frames a vibrant central field. Here, an all-over geometric pattern takes center stage, with a series of interconnected lozenges and diamonds in warm shades of red, orange, beige, light blue, and yellow. The presence of slight color variations, known as "abrash," testifies to the authenticity and artisanal hand-dyed wool process, giving the rug a unique and genuine character. Ideal for adding an ethnic and sophisticated touch to living rooms, studies, or bedrooms, this Kilim is a functional work of art.
