The Authentic Afghan Kilim: A Geometric Masterpiece
This splendid Afghan Kilim is a textile work of art that embodies centuries of tradition and artisanal mastery. Made from hand-carded wool with a cotton warp, it features an exceptionally high-quality flatweave, typical of original Kilims.
The design is dominated by two large diamond-shaped medallions, centrally arranged and delineated by a zigzag motif, creating a strong visual impact. The interior of these diamonds is adorned with a myriad of small diamonds and geometric shapes in an extremely rich and varied color palette. The entire field is an all-over design, vibrant and dynamic, enriched with minute details and a remarkable abrash effect, which gives depth and character to the artifact.
The outer border, in a warm orange-terracotta tone, elegantly frames the rug and features stylized meander motifs and horizontal bands. Its Afghan origin and a density of 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm testify to the care and skill of the weavers. With a thickness of 0.3 cm, it is light yet durable, ideal for adding a touch of color and history to any environment, from the living room to the bedroom, or to enhance a wide corridor.
