This magnificent Kilim from Afghanistan is an authentic expression of nomadic textile art. Masterfully woven using hand-carded wool on a cotton warp, every fiber tells a story of tradition and artisanal skill. The high density, between 160,000 and 200,000 knots per square meter, ensures exceptional robustness and durability, while maintaining a slender profile of just 0.3 cm, typical of Kilims.
The Kilim features an all-over design dominated by large central diamonds, skillfully framed by a myriad of smaller geometric motifs and decorative bands. The color palette is extraordinarily vibrant: a bright sky blue forms the main background, punctuated by shades of orange, red, ocher yellow, emerald green, purple, and cream white. The effect of abrash, the slight color variations due to natural dyes and the artisan's hand, adds depth and uniqueness to the piece, making it a dynamic work of art.
Perfect for enhancing any space, from the living room to the bedroom, this rectangular Kilim elegantly suits both modern and more classic decors, introducing a touch of exoticism and warmth. It is ideal as a floor rug, but also as a wall hanging, capable of creating a striking visual focal point. Its flatweave nature makes it practical and easy to maintain, a true artisanal treasure that lasts over time.
