This magnificent Afghan kilim is an authentic expression of traditional textile art, characterized by a pattern of multicolored octagonal panels dancing on a subdued dark background. Each octagon encloses a unique geometric motif, creating a visually striking work of art. The color variety plays on pastel shades of pink, light blue, mint green, yellow, and orange, balanced by the deep brown of the base, enriched with small diamond and arrow motifs.
The border of the kilim echoes the vibrant colors of the central field, with a succession of stylized arrows gracefully framing the entire artifact. It is a piece that carries the echo of ancient traditions, capable of instilling warmth and personality in any environment, from classic to modern, adding a touch of exoticism and history.
Made in Afghanistan, this kilim is the result of careful artisanal craftsmanship. Its main material is hand-carded wool, with a cotton warp, which gives the fabric unmistakable robustness and softness. Although kilims are flatweave textiles without knots, the technical data indicates a density of 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm, highlighting the extreme compactness and attention to detail. Its thickness of only 0.3 cm makes it versatile and practical for various placements, even in high-traffic areas. The small color variations, known as "abrash," are an authentic testament to natural dyeing and manual processing, adding a unique character to each piece.
