This captivating hand-knotted rug is a true gem of Persian tribal craftsmanship, presumably originating from the southwestern regions of Iran, such as Shiraz or the work of the majestic Qashqai tribes. Characterized by a vibrant color palette, the field is dominated by a deep terracotta red, enriched with natural nuances that create a delicate abrash effect, a testament to the use of natural dyes and hand-spun wool.
The design features an impressive central lozenge-shaped medallion, enclosed within an elaborate weave of geometric and stylized motifs. Flanking the medallion, decorative friezes display stylized animal and bird figures, typical of tribal iconography, adding a touch of authenticity and narrative to the piece. The field is densely populated with minute geometric motifs, such as stars, small diamonds, and abstract shapes, filling every space with fascinating complexity.
The main border, in a deep indigo blue, beautifully frames the field, presenting harmoniously arranged floral and geometric motifs. Secondary borders, with their aquamarine and ocher tones, complete the design, adding depth and balance. This rug is not merely a decorative element, but a work of art that embodies centuries of tradition and mastery, capable of imbuing any room with warmth and character.
