This magnificent Shiraz rug, originating from the ancient lands of Persia, is a textile masterpiece that embodies centuries of nomadic tradition. Hand-woven with precious hand-carded wool on a cotton warp, it features a high density of 160,000-200,000 knots per square meter and a thickness of approximately 1 cm, testifying to exceptional artisanal skill.
The design is dominated by a large diamond-shaped central geometric medallion, beautifully framed by stylized tribal elements. This medallion is the focal point of a rich, dark field, dotted with numerous minute geometric motifs, stylized animals, and ancestral symbols that tell stories of daily life and beliefs of the Qashqai tribes, the primary weavers of these rugs. The presence of abrash, the slight color variations due to natural dyes, adds depth and character, highlighting the authenticity of the traditional dyeing process.
The predominant colors are a deep, almost ruby or burgundy red, harmoniously blending with shades of dark black and brown. Vibrant details in cream and off-white illuminate the central medallion and the four stellar-shaped corner medallions, creating a captivating visual contrast. The main border is also adorned with repeated geometric motifs, typical of the tribal style, elegantly framing the field.
A Shiraz is not just a rug, but a piece of history, capable of bringing warmth and a unique atmosphere to any space. Its robustness and the quality of its materials make it ideal for everyday use, destined to last over time and gain further beauty with age.
