This magnificent Shiraz rug, hailing from ancient Persia, is a splendid example of nomadic craftsmanship. Made with hand-carded wool on a cotton warp, it features a knot density ranging from 160,000 to 200,000 knots per square meter and a thickness of approximately 1 cm, ensuring durability and a pleasant tactile feel.
The main field is dominated by a vibrant scarlet red, creating a powerful backdrop for the diamond-shaped central medallion in shades of deep blue and black. This medallion is finely decorated with small geometric motifs, and the corners feature quarter-medallions reflecting the dark coloring of the center. The entire field is scattered with stylized geometric motifs, such as stars, rosettes, and hooks, typical of tribal iconography, which add depth and narrative to the design. The natural color variations of the wool, known as abrash, enrich the surface with unique nuances that attest to the handcrafted nature of the rug.
The outer border features a main band on a red background with a succession of floral and geometric motifs, flanked by thin guard stripes with "S" designs and stylized patterns on white and black backgrounds. This rectangular rug is a testament to rich Persian tradition, ideal for those seeking a piece of history and authenticity.
