This authentic Shiraz rug, originating from the ancestral lands of Persia, is a vibrant example of nomadic textile art. Hand-knotted with hand-carded wool on a cotton warp, it boasts a density of 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm and a thickness of 1 cm, which lends it robustness and an exceptional softness to the touch. The presence of abrash, subtle variations in hue, attests to the use of natural dyes and the unique character of each piece.
The main field is dominated by a deep and vibrant red, rich in nuances, evoking the warmth and passion of Persian culture. At its center, a striking lozenge-shaped medallion in dark blue stands out, detailed with complex geometric patterns in shades of cream, red, and orange, immediately capturing the eye. This medallion is framed by dark blue corner spandrels, creating a harmonious contrast with the red field.
The all-over design is richly adorned with a myriad of stylized animals, such as birds, goats, and possibly camels, gracefully scattered among small vegetal elements and geometric tribal symbols. Each figure is a reference to the daily life and spirituality of Persian nomadic tribes, narrating silent stories through the wool.
The border is composed of a main band featuring geometric zigzag or "wineglass" patterns, alternating colors like dark blue, red, and cream, flanked by guard borders with sawtooth motifs and thin stripes. These details contribute to defining the rug's structure and enhancing the central design.
A Shiraz rug is more than just a decorative item; it is a fragment of history and tradition that carries the soul of Persia. Ideal for enriching both classic and modern interiors with a touch of authenticity and warmth.
