This splendid Baluch rug originates from the historical region of Persia, where the Baluchi, nomadic peoples, have passed down the art of weaving for generations. Each piece is a unique expression of their culture and traditions.
The rug features a geometric medallion design, typical of Baluch craftsmanship. The cream central field is enlivened by a series of large, diamond-shaped medallions in black and red, enriched with stylized star motifs and small floral-geometric elements. Between the medallions, stylized figures resembling birds or totemic animals can be observed, a distinctive sign of tribal iconography. The rich border, with its multiple decorative bands, frames the whole harmoniously.
The use of hand-carded wool gives the pile a particular softness and durability, while the cotton warp ensures stability. The dense weave, with a density of 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm, attests to the high artisanal quality of the rug. Color variations, known as abrash, are an intrinsic characteristic of rugs dyed with natural pigments, adding depth and character, revealing the charm of handmade work.
With its thickness of approximately 0.6 cm and its rectangular dimensions, this rug perfectly adapts to various environments, bringing a touch of exoticism and history. It is a textile work of art that embodies centuries of tradition and mastery, ideal for those seeking a furnishing element that tells a story.
