This magnificent Hamadan runner is a superb example of ancient Persian textile art. Hailing from the renowned Hamadan region, a historical crossroads of cultures and artisan traditions, every knot tells a story.
Crafted from high-quality hand-carded wool with a cotton warp, this runner offers unparalleled durability and softness. Its density, between 160,000 and 200,000 knots per square meter, attests to the meticulousness and skill of the master weavers.
The design features a deep red field, densely populated by an all-over design combining stylized floral motifs and complex geometric interweaves. At its center, a prominent star-shaped medallion, in shades of midnight blue and cream, captures the eye, surrounded by detailed ornaments.
The ends of the runner are enriched with blue spandrels, adorned with an explosion of floral designs reminiscent of prayer rug mihrabs, adding a touch of sacredness and depth. The multi-layered borders harmoniously frame the main field with a series of recurring motifs, primarily geometric and small botanical elements.
The color palette, dominated by ruby red and intense blue, is enlivened by accents of cream, pink, and touches of black, creating a vibrant visual effect and a slight abrash that highlights the authenticity and handcrafted nature of naturally dyed wool.
With its thickness of approximately 1 cm, this Hamadan runner is not just a decorative item but a functional work of art, perfect for adding a touch of elegance and warmth to hallways, entryways, or any space you wish to enhance with a piece of Persian history.
