This splendid Shiraz rug is an authentic expression of Persian nomadic art, originating directly from the Fars region. Hand-knotted with hand-carded wool on a cotton warp, it reflects the artisan mastery and tribal aesthetics of the Qashqai people.
The vibrant red field is dominated by a large, stylized central medallion that extends lengthwise. This element is delineated by a serrated border and features a beige/cream coloring with dark details, enriched by geometric motifs. The color tones in the field exhibit slight variations (abrash), testament to the use of natural dyes and the artisanal weaving process.
Around the medallion, the field is scattered with a myriad of small, stylized geometric and floral motifs in various hues, creating a dynamic all-over design. The corners of the rug feature dark spandrels with additional tribal details.
The main border, in cream and black tones, is decorated with a succession of stylized floral motifs, elegantly framing the central design. With a density of 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm and a thickness of approximately 1 cm, this Shiraz is a robust work of art steeped in history, perfect for enriching spaces with a touch of Persian authenticity.
