This splendid Shiraz rug embodies the essence of Persian tribal textile art. Originating from the Shiraz region of Persia, it is a magnificent example of how the Qashqai nomads and other local tribes expressed their culture through knots.
Crafted with hand-carded wool for the pile and cotton for the warp, it offers exceptional durability and a soft, rich texture. The density of 160,000-200,000 knots per square meter and a thickness of approximately 1 cm attest to the artisan skill and robustness of this piece.
The rug features a striking central medallion, precisely outlined with geometric accuracy and filled with deep blue and cream tones. The main field is dominated by a rich ruby red, enhanced by a natural abrash that adds depth and character, narrating the story of nomadic looms.
The entire surface is dotted with stylized tribal symbols and motifs, including zoomorphic figures, stars, and diamonds, reflecting the beliefs and daily life of the tribes. The main border, with its "serrated leaf" or geometric "gul" design, harmoniously frames the whole, alternating cream and dark blue sections.
A Shiraz rug is not just a piece of furniture, but a piece of nomadic history. Each knot tells a millennial tradition, bringing warmth and authenticity to any environment. Its robust aesthetic and vibrant colors make it perfect for adding a touch of exoticism and sophistication.
