The Shiraz rug, originating from the region of the same name in Persia, is a vibrant expression of the Qashqai nomads' textile art. This particular piece stands out for its robustness and the use of high-quality, hand-spun and hand-carded wool, which gives the pile a natural luster and unmistakable texture. The cotton warp ensures a solid structure, while the density of 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm testifies to the attention to detail.
The design is dominated by a large central lozenge medallion, which stands out strongly against the surrounding field. The main colors, a deep terracotta red and a navy blue, create an intense chromatic contrast, accentuated by abrash, a distinctive sign of natural dyeing. The field is densely populated with geometric and stylized motifs representing elements of nature and the daily life of the tribes: birds, animals, symbols of fertility and protection. The multi-layered borders echo and amplify these designs, framing the work with elegance and harmony.
With its thickness of approximately 1 cm, this Shiraz is not only an art object but also a practical and comfortable element. Perfect for adding warmth and character to living rooms, studies, or hallways, it suits both traditional and contemporary furnishings, where it can serve as a focal point. Each knot tells a millennial story, bringing with it the echo of the Persian steppes and the skill of nomadic master weavers.
