An Authentic Persian Shiraz Rug
This magnificent Shiraz rug is a textile work of art that encapsulates the essence of Persian tradition. Originating from the Shiraz region of Persia, it is hand-knotted with great skill, reflecting the rich nomadic culture of the Qashqai and other local tribes.
The rug features a vibrant central field of brick red, adorned with a captivating diamond-shaped central medallion, rich in dark blue, beige, and lighter hues. At the four corners, dark triangles create a distinctive chromatic contrast, often in deep indigo blue. The all-over design is enriched by a myriad of stylized geometric motifs, amulets, zoomorphic figures such as birds and goats, and vegetal elements that narrate the stories and beliefs of the tribes. The presence of abrash is noticeable, showing slight variations in the field color, a distinctive sign of authenticity and natural wool dyeing.
The main border, with its repetitive “broken S” patterns or complex geometric shapes, magnificently frames the central design, adding depth and character. The colors are derived from natural dyes, giving the rug a rich and long-lasting palette.
