This splendid Shiraz rug, originating from Persia, embodies the essence of tribal textile art. Crafted with hand-carded wool on a cotton warp, it features a knot density ranging between 160,000 and 200,000 knots per square meter, with a thickness of approximately 1 cm. Each thread has been expertly knotted, lending the artifact exceptional robustness and durability.
The design is characterized by a large central diamond medallion, richly decorated with geometric motifs and stylizations. The main field, in a deep brick red, and the spandrels, in an intense night blue, are densely populated with a kaleidoscope of tribal symbols. One can admire trees of life, stylized figures of animals (birds, quadrupeds), and various geometric motifs that tell stories and beliefs of nomadic tribes. Natural color variations, known as abrash, add depth and authenticity to the rug.
The border is composed of several bands, each with its own distinctive geometric pattern, beautifully framing the central field. This Shiraz rug is not just a furnishing accessory but a piece of history and culture, capable of bringing a touch of exoticism and warmth to any environment, from classic elegance to contemporary design.
