This magnificent Sarough rug, originating from Persia, is an exquisite example of traditional textile craftsmanship. With its rich composition and vibrant color palette, it carries the history and elegance of one of the most renowned Persian weaving schools.
Crafted from hand-carded wool, the pile offers a soft yet durable texture, designed to last. The cotton warp ensures stability and robustness. The density of 160,000-200,000 knots per square meter testifies to the extreme care and precision of the artisanal work, contributing to the clarity of the design.
The field is dominated by an all-over pattern, densely populated with stylized floral motifs such as palmettes, rosettes, and sinuous vines, interspersed with delicate animal figures, likely gazelles or antelopes, creating an enchanted garden atmosphere. The predominant colors are coral red and deep blue, beautifully balanced by ivory details and softer hues that enhance the design's depth. Slight color variations, known as "abrash," may be observed, testifying to the use of natural dyes and the uniqueness of each piece.
The complex, layered border elegantly frames the field, echoing and expanding upon the motifs found in the center. This rug, with a thickness of 1.2 cm, is a distinctive addition to any interior, capable of imbuing warmth and sophistication.
