This splendid Shiraz rug is an authentic expression of the textile art of the Fars region's nomads in Persia. Characterized by a vibrant design and rich color palette, each knot tells a centuries-old story of tradition and artisanal mastery. Its structure is entirely made of hand-carded wool, which provides a soft and durable texture, while the cotton warp ensures stability and longevity.
The central field, a deep brick red with clear signs of abrash that enhance its authenticity and antique charm, is dominated by a sequence of three imposing dark, almost black, diamond-shaped medallions. These medallions are finely outlined with white or light contours and enclose elaborate stylized floral motifs, typical of tribal artifacts. The rug's corners, also dark, create a harmonious contrast with the red field, delimited by a stepped design that introduces the perimeter. The entire field is dotted with a myriad of small scattered geometric and vegetal motifs, enriching the composition with a sense of vitality and movement.
The main border features a succession of "S" or stylized leaf motifs, interspersed with small geometric shapes, in a palette of colors including red, blue, green, and cream, elegantly framing the central design. With a density of 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm and a thickness of approximately 1 cm, this Shiraz is not just a piece of furniture, but a piece of Persian history, capable of infusing warmth and character into any environment, from classic to modern.
