This magnificent Kazak rug, originating from Afghanistan, is a textile work of art that embodies the rich artisanal tradition of the region. Crafted with hand-carded wool (cotton warp), it features a robust texture and an unmistakable softness, typical of hand-knotted rugs. Its dense knotting, with a density of 100,000-150,000 knots/sqm, and a thickness of 1.1 cm attest to its fine craftsmanship and durability.
The design is a classic example of the Kazak style, characterized by bold geometric motifs and vibrant colors. The sky blue central field is dominated by a large cream-colored rhomboidal medallion with geometric details, flanked by stylized cross and rosette shapes in shades of red, dark blue, and pink. The main border, in an elegant cream, is embellished with a sequence of star motifs and smaller geometric patterns that create a captivating visual contrast. The use of natural dyes and dyeing techniques can create slight color variations, known as "abrash", which add unique depth and character to each piece. An ideal rug to bring a touch of authenticity and warmth to any room.
